Dear Friends,
Next week,
many of our local schools will become battlegrounds over the issue
of homosexuality. On April 18th, the Day of Silence, which was
started more than ten years ago by a major gay activist group
devoted to promoting the acceptance of homosexuality among our
children, will be held in many North Carolina schools. On this
day, hundreds of thousand students across the country will remain
silent in classes as a demonstration of their solidarity with
gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people around the world,
and in many cases, information will be disseminated that aggressively
promotes the homosexual agenda.
A
strong call is now going forth across the country to keep Christian
children home from any school that hosts the Day of Silence this
year. We have listed, below, the schools in North Carolina
that are scheduled to hold the Day of Silence this year. If you
have children in any of these schools, we would encourage you
to visit www.notourkids.com
to find out exactly why you should consider keeping your kids
home next week on April 18th. Let’s make a statement of
our own on this day, and let’s not allow our kids to be
polluted by pressure and propaganda.
There’s
something else you can do: The very next day, April 19th, the
Day of Truth will be held in many of our schools as well. This
growing movement was established in 2005 by the Alliance Defense
Fund “to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda
and express an opposing viewpoint from a Christian perspective.”
It is the truth that will set people free! For more information,
go to www.dayoftruth.org.
For several
months now, we have been encouraging students, youth leaders,
and parents to get the Day of Truth into their local schools,
so take a moment and contact your local middle school or high
school to find out whether the Day of Truth will be sponsored.
If it is, encourage your kids to be part of it.
You can also
find out where your local schools stand on a number of key moral
issues by using this survey provided by Mission America at: http://www.missionamerica.com/
and click on “The Dirty Dozen Checklist.”
Let’s
bring the truth to light, and let’s stand together for righteousness.
Blessings
and grace,
Dr. Michael
L. Brown
Director

Please pray
for the students in these schools, and if you live in these school
districts – especially if you have children in any of these
schools or if you are a Christian leader in these school districts
– we encourage you to contact the school principal and raise
questions about the propriety of the Day of Silence being held
in a public school. To get a good idea as to why we should stand
against this day, go to: http://www.missionamerica.com/homosexual.php?articlenum=58.
